Here are some frequently asked questions. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call us.

I want to join the Akita Inu Preservation Society.
Membership is available through the branch offices. Please see the list of branches and contact the branch in your prefecture (if there is no branch in your prefecture, please contact the nearest branch).

About the admission fee
If you want to change your name at the same time, the fee is 10,000 yen. The admission fee for membership only is 8,000 yen.
Please contact the branch office first.

Which branch office should I join?
Please join the branch in the prefecture where you live. If there is no branch nearby, you will join the one nearest to you.

I want to change chapters.
You need to get approval from the president of both the branch you are leaving and the branch you are joining.
Please contact the local chapter directly for a transfer form.

Fees for litter registration, single dog registration, name change, and kennel registration
The fee for single litter registration is 3,500 yen per litter. Single dog registration (after 3 months of age) is 8,000 yen per dog, name change is 3,000 yen, and kennel registration is 5,000 yen.

I want to change the name of my kennel at the same time as the registration of a litter.
<If the person to whom you wish to transfer the litter is a member
Please write the name and address of the person to whom you wish to transfer the studbook on the back. A fee of 3,000 yen is required in addition to the registration fee for the whelping.

<If the person to whom you wish to transfer the studbook is not a member
Please write the name and address of the person to whom you wish to transfer the studbook on the back of the pedigree. If you are not a member, you will be required to fill out an application form and pay an admission fee in addition to the registration fee for each litter. Please contact your nearest branch office.

I want to fill out a single fetus form since there is no single registration form.
No problem. Please cross out the word “single foal” with a double line and fill in the word “sole”.

When will the pedigree be sent out?
Due to the high volume of applications, it will take approximately one week for the pedigree to be sent out. Please note that it may take some time if the application is incomplete.

I forgot the breeding date.
Please call us and tell us the name of the father dog, the name of the mother dog, the name of the owner of each dog, and the name of the branch office. We will look them up and let you know.

My address has changed.
Please send us a written notice of any changes you wish to make, either by fax or e-mail.

I have lost my pedigree and would like to have it reissued.
This is possible when the owner or owners have passed away. Please fill out the application form for reissuing a pedigree. The fee is 3,000 yen. If you wish to change the name at the same time, the fee will be 3,000 yen for reissue and 3,000 yen for name change, for a total of 6,000 yen.

A regular member has passed away and I want to succeed his/her name.
If the member has been deceased for less than one year, his/her family can succeed to the membership (even if they are not a member). (However, the successor must be a family member living in the same household as the regular member or a third degree relative. We have an inheritance form that can be mailed to you upon request.

I want to add an award history to my pedigree.
You can add up to three awards to your pedigree for an additional fee of ¥2,000. Please send us the pedigree and the awards you wish to have listed.

My wife’s dog has a litter and I want to register it as a litter. Can I use my (husband’s) kennel?
No, you cannot use your (husband’s) kennel. The owner of the mother dog (wife) is the breeder, so the kennel of the breeder is required for registration. If you really want to use your husband’s kennel, you need to change the name of the female dog to his before the breeding date.

I want to change the name of my kennel. I want to have another kennel.
You cannot change the name of the kennel. You cannot change the name of the kennel, and you cannot own more than one kennel.

I want to know the deadline for publication in the newsletter. I want to know the fee for advertisement.
The deadline is the 25th of every even-numbered month. Ads must be submitted by the 25th of the even-numbered months.
